Tizen on Samsung’s First Prototype Device (by TheHandheldBlog)

I am still not quite sure what to think of Tizen. On the one hand, it’s yet another HTML5 infused mobile OS (just like webOS/Open webOS and Mozilla’s boot2gecko) on the other hand, it is backed by two mayor hardware players (Intel&Samsung) and built around the Enlightenment UI framework, which for a long time showed of really efficient, good looking demos and almost no applications for real world use. And then Tizen is the lovechild of MeeGo and LiMo, two open source platform efforts which never really made a much of an impact on the market.

This video shows a demo unit showing of rather horrible Samsung UI. At this point, I would really like to see a merger of Open webOS and Tizen efforts, as HP/Palm has proven that they can do better than this in terms of UI concepts and UX design.
